London is an incredibly diverse city that’s steeped in history and culture. Whether you’re spending a day, a weekend, or a week in the city, or you live in the capital, there is something for everyone. Are you looking for things to do in London? If so, you’re in the right place as tastecard has the perfect London travel guide just for you.

Things to do in London.

There, literally, is something for everyone in London. If you’re a football lover then there’s plenty to see with 17 professional football teams located in the capital. If you’re in London for shopping, there’s the famous luxury department store, Harrod’s. For normal tourist spots, there’s the obvious London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s Cathedral and many more. And, for food, there’s a wealth of London restaurant deals to be had by signing up to tastecard.

In our opinion, though, here are the best things to do in London:

  • Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament
  • Buckingham Palace
  • Tower of London and Tower Bridge
  • Westminster Abbey
  • London Eye
  • Thames Rockets
  • Trafalgar Square
Big Ben.

Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

A trip to London wouldn’t count without seeing Big Ben. Fortunately, right next door is the Houses of Parliament which is well worth viewing, even if you’re not the biggest politics fan. The history within the building and the stunning architecture is something truly wonderful and definitely worth a visit.

It’s also opposite the London Eye, so if you fancy a bird’s eye view of London, it’s a short walk over Westminster Bridge.

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace.

Popping over to the home of the King at Buckingham Palace is a must-do for London tourists. This enormous palace was home to the late Queen Elizabeth II until 2022. You can’t enter the palace but it’s still a great photo opportunity.

Tower of London and Tower Bridge.

Having a guided tour around the Tower of London and walking across Tower Bridge to take in the sights and sounds of the River Thames is a great way to spend your time in London.

Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey.

While you’re out and about in central London, head to Westminster Abbey to take in the historic sights and architecture. A building this stunning that has been standing since the 13th century deserves your time!

London Eye.

London Eye.

Any trip to London has to include a ride on the London Eye. There aren’t many better ways of experiencing the capital than this one. Take a bird's eye view of the city from an incredible vantage point, right next to the River Thames and overlooking Westminster.

Finally, we have Trafalgar Square. Admire the fountains and famous monuments, such as the four Bronze lion statues and Nelson’s Column, which honours Admiral Nelson’s victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Where to stay in London?

If you’re in London for the weekend, you’ll need a roof over your head. London has a wide range of incredible hotels to choose from, sometimes making it difficult for people to actually pick one!

The location of your accommodation may depend on your plans for your trip to London. If you’re in the capital to watch a musical or a theatre show, it’s probably best to choose a hotel in the West End. That way, you’re close to the theatres and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from too.

If you plan on walking around central London a lot more during your visit, consider staying near Westminster. Not only are the biggest tourist attractions in that area, but you can easily hop on and off the Thames Clipper (a boat that you can use to travel through the city - wow!) and the London Underground.
